God Moment.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, start praying for it. I don’t know if thats what they are “officially called,” but it seems as though He (God) knows, and thats the only way to explain it. A God moment. It’s this overwhelming, “wait, what just happened?” kind of thing.

So you’re probably thinking, “you must of just had a God moment. Why don’t you share it with us.” You’re absolutely right and I absolutely will.

This afternoon as I sat in the volunteer apartment, working on some revisions for the volunteer department, I saw a couple “muzungus” (“white people” as we are so frequently and affectionately called) and a couple Uganda’s standing outside our door. They weren’t angels (I don’t think). This is a fairly common thing. People come quite regularly to take a tour of the villages and at times, to visit their sponsor child.

I gestured for them to come in, hoping that I could get a little break from my work.

The muzungus were a married couple from Sweden in probably their mid 30s. I showed them around our apartment and told them how there were so many great opportunities for volunteers here at Watoto. We talked about adjusting to living here and how the high elevation makes you feel really out of shape. Nothing too fantastic, right.

God moment:

Then the husband nonchalantly says to me, “I feel like this is the final piece of the puzzle for you and then you’ll be free to go. Everything is coming together for you to take off.”

Random muzungu from Sweden that knows nothing about me, has no clue why Sydnie and I are here, and he goes off and says this… What!?

So, my completely blown mind is trying to soak in what he just said as I fumble over my words to tell him how I’ve been studying orphanages for the last few years and felt like this was the next place for us to continue on.

He said, “yeah, I knew it immediately when I met you.”

Hello God moment!

Moments later, they leave and I’m left sitting on the couch trying to figure out if they are angels. But maybe they were just obedient people that God wanted to use to show me just how powerful and sovereign He is. How he is so so involved in our lives but sometimes it takes this “God moment” to realize the extent of it. To realize just how much He cares and how much He loves us.

Our minds simply cannot grasp the magnitude of these things, but any time we get even a small glimpse of it, we are left in awe.
